R&R: Don't Suffer In Silence 9/25/20

Happy Friday Folks!

So I want to keep this one brief, since it's pretty emotionally raw and sensitive. This is a topic that I might want to address in more detail in a later post; but I want to talk about Mental Health and Suicide.

Mental health has always been an area that I am sensitive to, and I have always tried to be an advocate for those who are suffering - and today was no different. I am a gamer and a member of my online community made some concerning comments and left the group this morning.

I reached out to him, someone who I only know through games, and ended up talking to him on the phone. I am very grateful that he picked up that phone. He's been having a rough go of things, and was without hope.

I listened to him, I pointed out some of my thoughts where I felt applicable (very carefully), and I have continued to talk to him on and off all day. That is part of why this post is going to be so short, is because it is still on going.

He is doing better, but I don't know where he lives, I don't know his real name, and if I pushed to hard he could easily block me, and that could be game over. All I can do is to be there, to try to help and to try to heal.

Just know, whoever you are, whatever you are dealing with, whatever you have done, or what ever you have gone through - you matter. You matter a whole lot. Your existence is a mathematically miracle and there are people around you who care about you - even if you don't know them that well.

I hope that anyone who is ever struggling knows that they can reach out to me at any time, and I will be there for you, no one should ever struggle in silence. There is always hope, you just have to find it - or have others help you find it.

If you need it, here is the number for the suicide hotline: 1-800-273-8255

Please stay safe and have a good weekend. Sending you good vibes to where ever you are or whoever you are.
