My Favorite Piece of Student Feedback:

"...Mr. Cobb made me use my brain in a different way..."

What more are you capable of?  If you really set your mind to it, worked hard & believed?

The Philosophy & Methodology

Everything that I have learned and every tool that I have built, have been designed to assist me in my own success in life with Adult ADHD.  Students with learning difficulties or psychological struggles find my approaches uniquely relevant to issues they encounter; and since I am always working on my own growth and improvement, the current methods pull from cutting edge science and theories.

Drawing from Eastern Philosophical Roots, viewed through an anthropological paradigm and combined with the psychology behind success demonstrated by; entrepreneurs, CEO's and elite special forces - my approaches combine the tips, tricks and habits that have made the most successful of our species stand out, and what can make the future leaders of tomorrow grow into their potentials.

This is Accomplished Using the “5 Steps To Success”

Step 1: Assessment

Through meetings and discussions with the student and family, the individual hopes and needs of each client are defined and strengths and areas for growth are identified.  Students and their families are encouraged to be open and honest when assessing areas of growth and strengths; as doing so will result in greater personal and professional growth and development.

Step 2: Start Of The Week

Using the data from the assessment, realistic goals are set in cooperation with the student – student “buy-in” is crucial to both short-term and more importantly long-term success.  Once agreed upon, the habits and “steps” that need to be taken to accomplish those goals are mapped, and a schedule set.  This step is only complete when the student feels confident in their ability to accomplish the path(s) charted out.

Step 3: Check-In(s)

Based on the plan purchased, the amount of check-ins will vary; however they all serve the same purpose.  Through honest, non-judgmental, assessment and evaluation, progress is established.  Potential troubleshooting solutions are proposed as needed, as well as supplemental curriculum if the student would be benefited.

Step 4: Reflection

At the end of the week; goal progression, daily micro-habit completion, overall growth and mindset evaluation and reflection is completed.  Data is collected in order to make decisions for the next week, as well as allowing long term progress to be charted and evaluated.

Step 5: Meditation

Utilizing the data collected from the progress made throughout the week, the family is given a “progress report” and the student is given prompts to reflect on both the short-term and long-term experience and experience personal growth and personal methods to attain success.  Some packages include extra services and supports provided over the weekend.

About Me

How I Came To Start This Journey

Hello! My name is Nicholas Cobb and I have the pleasure of introducing you to my Tutoring Agency.  Despite my youth, I have been blessed with the various opportunities to gain experience as an Educator, a Coach, and a Special Education aide; which has allowed me to forge positive relationships with students and to expand the skills that I bring to my craft.

That is far from where my story starts however, my story starts as a young adolescent who struggled, both in school and in life.  Diagnosed with ADHD at age 14, I was a young man who doubted his own abilities, avoided things that were too hard or complicated, and who thought that he never met anyone’s expectations of him.  But then something happened, I went to college and I was offered a blank slate, a new start, a new lease on life.  I thrived.  I was no longer who I thought I was, but rather who I was becoming, and I felt like I had agency over my life.  I finally understood what it meant to feel successful, and comfortable in my own skin.  Then in May of 2019, life granted me another lesson, when I took a ricochet line drive to the back of my head resulting in a fairly severe concussion.  I could no longer do all the things that I had taken for granted and I felt like I was back to square one.  But I wasn’t, because this time I knew that with hard work and persistence, I could build myself back up.  During my rehabilitation, I took a deep dive into how the brain functions, the mind body connection and into psychology in general.  What resulted is a deep respect for not only the experience I had, but also for how much the inner conditions of the mind affect an individual’s ability to be successful.  The most important thing that drives student/life success - is Mindset.

This is why my primary goal when working with students is replacing negative self-talk with self-belief and healthy habit building.  How we think and how we feel is so deeply tied into our perceptions of the world. So one of the best ways to create habitual change in learning is through the creation of positive behavioral associations.  I love all my students, but I have always excelled with the “difficult ones”, the ones who didn't want to learn, who got bored, or are too hard on themselves - because I was them, and I try to be the person who I needed at that age.  From my reflection portfolios, my most cherished comment is where a student told me that I “made them use their brain in a new way”.  That is how you change the world, one hopeful mindset at a time.

This is how I approach working with my students, and this is how I approach working with my clients as they become my students.  I would love to be able to schedule a free consultation to better discuss your needs, and better explain my approaches and how I could help find solutions with you to those needs.
